• The NEZ

Organization

The Nature Experience Center Rhön (NEZ Rhön) is beeing developed in the Bavarian part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön, with locations in Hammelburg and Bad Kissingen. Main focus are diverse mobile education programms for secondary schools and the public.

An interactive exhibition in Hammelburg focusing on social and economical sustainability will challenge visitors to participate in the development of the exhibition and the greater region. Sustainability is not only environmental conservation but also the process of forming a future-proof society. This has been a main focus of Biosphere Reserves for a long time and the NEZ aims to find new and creative solutions for presenting it.

The diverse and abundant nature of the region will star in the educational programm aimed at families and children at the Bad Kissingen location next to wildlife park Klaushof. Here a new construction attached to the wildlife park is planned. The experience oriented exhibition and education programm will focus on native animals and livestock, as well as woodland and forests.

The NEZ Rhön is a public organization of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön and funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection.

The area of the UNESCO Biosphere reserve Rhön was nearly doubled in 2014, resulting in the need for further educational resources in the southernmost part.

Thus the NEZ Rhön is going to serve as information and educational center in the Bad Kissingen district and will complements existing educational programms.
